BHAM! 24/7
Naufal Abshar

Naufal Abshar is an Indonesian artist, born in 1993 in Bandung. Trained at Lasalle College of the Arts and Goldsmith University of London, Naufal has participated in various group exhibitions in places as diverse as Singapore, Yogyakarta, Venice and Lithuania. In 2024, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Naufal Abshar on the creation of BHAM! 24/7 Naufal Abshar, a retrospective book celebrating a decade of his artistic journey. The book was published by Snap Collective, a Copenhagen-based publisher and bookstore renowned for showcasing portfolios of international photographers and artists.
This project began when Naufal asked me to photograph him and his works in his studio for publication in Larry's List, the leading art collector editorial and knowledge platform that provides data, research, and insider perspectives on contemporary art collectors. A few months later, he reached out again, this time involving independent curator Bob Edrian, and invited me to take part in the making of the book. In this project, I worked as both photographer and director of photography.
In 24/7 Naufal Abshar, the artist tells his own story, blending the concept of an artist's book with a lively and engaging autobiography. It offers readers a glimpse into the wide-ranging ideas and inspirations that fuel Naufal's creativity everyday of the week, celebrating the beauty of orfinary moments and the vibrant imagination that defines his artistic journey.
